eCommerce21 Punch-Out Module
Many large organizations use their internal procurement system when they order things from vendors through eProcurement. Some of these systems such as Ariba, SAP, Oracle etc. require vendors to have a catalog on their website for the products they buy from them. When an employee wants to buy something from an approved vendor, a request is sent via the Internet to the vendor’s catalog system with the part number(s) that need to be purchased. The catalog system needs to know the protocol from the eProcurement system. It needs to know the format of the request, requesting party etc. Once the request is received, the catalog system collects all the necessary information such as the requesting party’s pricing for the part numbers from its database or from the vendor’s ERP system and responds back to the requesting eProcurement system in the correct format. The eProcurement system then generates a purchase order and routes it to an authorized person in the organization for approval. After the necessary approvals, the purchase order is sent back in a particular format to the catalog system to process the order.
If you do not have a punch-out system, you may lose an opportunity to do business with some of your larger customers. Even if you do not need it now, you want to make sure you can have this capability with your eCommerce system for the future. eCommerce21 has an optional module for punch-out so you are ready when the need come. |
