Catalog Software User Proves That Being Computer Savvy isn’t a Prerequisite to Designing Catalogs In-house

(May 4, 2004) – Pharma-Safe, a Louisiana-based pharmaceutical, medical, and safety products supplier, recently launched an e-commerce catalog on their corporate website. Pharma-Safe’s David Dugas, who admits he’s not exactly computer savvy, built the digital catalog from the ground up using Catalog Builder software from Computer Pundits Corporation.

For five years Pharma-Safe had functioned just fine without a catalog, says Dugas. They’d gotten in a lot of doors and built up a satisfactory customer base. But it became clear to the company that in order to expand that customer base and be truly competitive in the marketplace they would need to add catalogs to the mix. For one thing, Dugas pointed out, many smaller businesses will only order supplies from catalogs.

Dugas researched both outsourcing and in-house catalog design options and determined that in-house production using catalog software would be more cost effective and provide more flexibility. After viewing an on-line demo of Catalog Builder, they decided to give it a try.

Catalog Builder software guides users through a step-by-step, point-and-click process of creating catalogs for output in a variety of formats, including print and PDF, and browser-based CD-ROM and e-commerce catalogs. Dugas entered the company’s data, chose from Catalog Builder’s templates to design the look and feel, and generated the catalogs for both printing and hosting on their website.

“I never saw myself putting together something like this and having it come out as good as it did,” admits Dugas. “Because of my limited computer background, I did lean on the Catalog Builder technical support staff. For me, the fact that they were always accessible and responsive was the biggest plus of choosing Catalog Builder.”

Pharma-Safe expects to realize a number of benefits now that their catalogs are ready to go. First, they’ll satisfy those existing customers who are requesting the convenience of catalog ordering. Plus they’ll gain access to new customers who only order from catalogs. What’s more, there’s the possibility of generating unsolicited business thanks to the fact that their catalog is now available on the world-wide-web.
