Trane Chooses Catalog Builder Software
to Produce New "Service First" Catalog
Technology will enable Trane distributors to
create region-specific catalogs affordably
( September 3, 2005 ) – Computer Pundits Corporation, developer
of Catalog Builder software, announced today that it has been
contracted by Trane, a global provider of indoor comfort systems and
facility solutions, to build a parts catalog content database as the
first stage in developing Trane’s new catalog system.
Computer Pundits will acquire the data for more than 6,000 parts,
including detailed product information and images, from manufacturer
sources as well as from Trane’s own archives. After Computer Pundits
completes the database, it will produce Trane’s new Service First
Catalog and deliver the database to Trane for internal use by
product managers. As part of the agreement Computer Pundits will
keep this database maintained on an on-going basis.
Parts centers and independent Trane distributors will have access
to Trane’s catalog database in order to augment the Service First
catalog with their own region-specific catalogs. Two distributors,
Louisville Trane and Tampa Bay Trane, have already purchased the
Catalog Builder software and are in the process of building their
own catalogs.
Catalog BuilderŽ is the in-house catalog design and management
system for wholesale distributors of all sizes. It automates the
process of generating print, CD-ROM, e-mail, web-based, and even
targeted (or region-specific) mini-catalogs, eliminating the need
for manual graphic design and saving businesses time and money over
traditional catalog production. With Catalog Builder, distributors
can update pricing and other product information in their catalogs
on demand.
Catalog information can be imported from CPC’s collection of
content from over 200 manufacturers in the HVAC industry or from
other industry sources like the ASA Industry Database (IDB) and
Trade Service, as well as from distributors’ own inventory
management systems. For those companies like Trane that prefer to
have someone else gather and input their catalog content or set up
their catalogs, Computer Pundits offers content development as well
as turnkey catalog production services.
